Job Seekers let's get it Straight Part Two

Job Seekers let's get it Straight Part Two

Do you remember how our parents priotize us going to school? and sometimes doing courses that they wanted or considered to be the best in terms of profession and gaining higher earning means and thereby think it will bring prestige to the family? but in some cases the reverse is the case, most especially for those without the right skills, qualifications and connection.

It is hightime we understand what our younger lads love doing inorder to rightly position their career path, we need to start preaching to our younger ones about what the labour market demands and it's not about Certificate but the adequate gaining of the universal skills and possessing the right attitude that will sustain their job.

Getting a job in Nigeria itself is a job, I use to tell job seekers this, you stand to gain nothing if you're not positioning yourself in line with what the labour market trends. Learn skills that are useful and are mostly being in need for by employers of labour out there. Make sure you stand doing something for yourself, do some level of putting your initiative into place, so you can make the work of getting a job easier for your connector.

It's high time you start networking with people; going out there letting people know who you are, what you can do and asking for opportunity. Whether you're shy or not, you can't do without networking.

If your dream job isn't coming, I use to say go out there and seek out for volunteering or internship opportunity. We might not have experience or get to know what we are passionate about but internship and voluntary opportunities most times show us the way. You can search for volunteering and Internship opportunities in website like opportunitydesk.org, stutern.com and follow @nigeriainternship on Facebook and Instagram.

And please do remember the world is not only for the living but for those who explore it, create it and made an impact into it.

Let's take on every chance we get to create the future we deserve!
